Variants and duplicates

In short

Duplicate creates a new draft from a quote (devis): same lines, same prices, no number. It is the way to offer an option, and the only way to "change" a quote already sent.

Duplicating

  1. On the quote, click Duplicate as a variant (or Duplicate for an independent copy, with no link to the original).
  2. The copy opens as a draft. Change whatever you want.
  3. It carries the mark Variant of…, and the original quote shows the list of its variants.

You can switch from one to the other in one click, both ways. Handy when a customer hesitates between three versions.

What the copy updates

The Valid until date is cleared: enter a new one. The legal statements are rewritten from your current settings. The lines, the prices, the discounts and the introduction are copied as they are.

A quote already sent has to change

You do not change a quote that has been sent Its number, its date and its content are frozen. Duplicate it, correct the copy, send the new version to your customer. The old one stays in your archives.

If the customer has already signed and the work changes, make a new quote: it is a new commitment, it deserves a new signature.
